The National Vaccine “Information” Center (NVIC) is running a misleading and dangerous anti-vaccine ad on the ABC screen in TImes Square that could be seen by millions during televised NYE celebrations.

i don’t know how much people that aren’t actively in the science/skeptic community are aware of it, but there is a huge movement in this country to discredit vaccination based solely on superstitious fear-mongering without an iota of evidence to its name. children have been put in danger, by their own parents and communities, because they’re listening to rightwing FUD nonsense about vaccinations causing autism and a bunch of other ridiculous claims.
vaccinations do not cause autism. while they carry some risks and some people react badly (i reacted badly and ended up in the hospital thanks to my measles vaccination, if my parents’ account of what happened is to be trusted), the benefits far outweigh the risk.
